  • The doer of some verb or the specification of an article or determiner.

  • Subjects that are nouns usually have an empty set as a head if there is not a determiner to specify. This keeps things consistent for manual and computer parsing. Sometimes words have the article contained within the word. We usually break it up putting hte deterministic marker as the head.
